FAQ

what is microblading?

Microblading is a form of permanent Cosmetic Tattooing that refers to the process of creating tiny hair strokes to mimic and enhance the natural look of eyebrows.  This is done by implanting pigment under the skin using a small, sterile, disposable needle which results in the look of fuller brows.

how long does microblading last?

Microblading is considered to be PERMANENT and will not wash off.

However, it will fade over time and may need a touch-up usually every 1-4 years.

Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), sun exposure, iron deficiency, and if any chemicals or skincare with active ingredients come into contact with treated areas.

Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skintype will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin. Most oily-skinned clients do well with a combination of strokes & shading, called a Combo brow.

I will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment

and make any changes necessary.

Touch-ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring 2+ visits. The initial procedure is followed by a touch-up procedure 6-12 weeks later.

Please note that the client is responsible for booking their own follow-up appointment and can book those appointments at any time within the 6-12 week timeframe.

what if i have medical conditions or allergies?

Please let us know of any medical conditions or allergies you have BEFORE booking an appointment, as this may disqualify you for the procedure, or we may need to source different products or change the procedure for your service.  This includes all allergies, food, environmental and otherwise that MUST be stated on your intake paperwork.

am i a good candidate for microblading?

You may not be a good candidate for Microblading if you have very thin, aged or mature skin, extremely oily skin, or very large sebaceous pores.  These clients will have less than ideal healed results and are more suited for a combination, ombre, or powder brow done with a machine.  Please contact Katie and send a photo of your bare skin if you are unsure.

what if i have previous permanent makeup or microblading?

Unfortunately,  Katie is not able to accept many clients with previous eyebrow tattooing or permanent makeup/microblading by another artist, even if it was done several years ago.

Any previous work must be removed or 75% faded.

Anyone who shows up to an appointment with unapproved previous tattooing

will likely be turned away and charged the cancellation fee.

Please send a photo if you are unsure if you qualify before booking.

All clients with previous work from another artist will be charged as a new client, unless explicitly told otherwise.

can i bring someone with me to my appointment ?

VA State Law states no one under the age of 18 is permitted inside cosmetic tattoo salons,

so please do not bring children to your appointment. One guest over 18 is permitted.

Service Animals are the only animals allowed inside the studio.

is there a cancellation fee?

Yes.  If your appointment needs to be cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hrs. of the appointment time, a fee will apply to the card on file totaling 50% of the service.  No-shows will be charged the fee and may not be eligible to re-book their service, as this is a time-consuming procedure and there are limited time slots available.

This policy will also apply to those who fail to read all FAQ & Pre/Post Care information and are ineligible to receive this service.
